The story of 4Challenge 2015 would not be complete without a special mention for the children of Hinde House Primary School. With two of their teachers taking part in the 380 mile ride (Mr French and Mr McDermott - aka school principal Chris and teacher Dom), the whole school got involved to raise as much as they could for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.
Going All Out
Among the many fundraising events, the school held a non-uniform day, a family fun day with stalls and activities for parents and children, and took on their very own sponsored bike ride.
The bike ride involved children from year one right through to year six - some of whom were not too steady on two wheels! Collectively they managed to cover the 380 miles the 4Challenge riders were to tackle and raised over £1,200 in the process! An incredible effort!
A Word About The Dinosaur
The children also took part in a competition to design the back of the riders’ jerseys. With the competition too close to call, the school selected seven winners and our friends at Revo Creative amalgamated their designs to make one fantastic image. The final result was amazing and worn with pride by every 4Challenge rider.
If you're wondering about the dinosaur roaming the hills...one of the children, Nathaniel, had drawn a picture of Mr McDermott cycling away from a host of dinosaurs. Such creative motivation to get pedaling had to be included and it was certainly a talking point en route from interested on-lookers!
It was a real pleasure teaming up with the school throughout 4Challenge and their efforts inspired the riders to keep going when the going got steep. Huge thanks to everyone at Hinde House Primary - pupils, teachers, staff and parents. You have made a real difference to people you will never meet but who need it most.
